Howdy,
Right now my creativity is very low and I don't mind. It gives me time to collect and gather the ideas that I do have. To stay in momentum I'm choosing to paint up some of the pencil drawings I did for inktober. I'm excited to see what some of them will look like. I am also gathering some of the ideas that I've had to try and finesse them a little. The ideas that I have are a little beyond my skill set right now. I read somewhere that artists envision roughly fove years ahead of their skill set. I both love and hate that no matter how much I get better my mind will always find a way to keep pushing me. This time of low creativity is also a time for me to have a good review.
I tend to do a lot of “quick” work and because of that I don't always feel like it's my best. I wonder what a piece of work would look like if I really took my time over it. What would my work look like if I fully immersed myself into it? I'm not sure, but, I'm interested in finding out. I think I'm just getting ready to dig a little deeper into my work technically. My backgrounds need some attention as does my story telling. I think with everything being quiet in my head right now it's a good time to work on all of these things and get them into order.
It's probably also a good idea for me to play about with my marketing and myabe upgrade that. I feel like I am on top of the idea that's going to help me to tell my story better. It's like my intuition is actively seeking for and rearranging the pieces of a puzzle I can't quite see yet. Nothing feels “off” or negative but I do feel like the energy under my feet is moving and the creative ideas I'll be engaging within the future are falling into place. My job right now is to keep showing and keep working on my skill set. It's weird not to have my head bouncing all over the place with a million different worlds playing themselves out but the benefit of that is more of a cool pragmatism that has taken up it's space.
Years ago I would have called this a creative block but now I see it for what it is, a creative regeneration.
Big Love,
Ryan James x
