Howdy!
For the last few months my creative output has been way more than it's been in the last few years. I'm painting, writing and making music every single day. I wish I had some magic idea or some huge epiphany to share but, at the end of the day all I've done is put in good habits. I stopped waiting to “feel like” making art and created lists of what I wanted to make and work through them. I now wake each morning at about half five, write for half an hour, paint for a whole hour and then after the gym each afternoon when I have the house all to myself I sit at the piano and practice. It's simple, beautiful and I feel like I'm creatively home.
Of course when you split yourself like this then there can be a definite slowing down of output. It hasn't been the case for me because, well, I'm starting from scratch! I'm finishing a painting a week, a chapter of the book every week and although I'm not making huge progress with music yet my voice is getting stronger and I'm figuring out what kind of musician I am today. It's a whole process.
I think what helped my habits the most was giving myself a set time to do the things I want to do. Uploading to my store on a Monday, working on my Youtube channel on a Thursday and now I'm thinking of adding blogging back into the mix. Mondays seem like a good day to do them but I'm not holding myself to that just yet. I'm treating everything like a big experiement lately and I certainly don't want to go down the rabbit hole of obsessively fitting work into every part of my life I am doing my best to make sure that I actually do the things I keep setting out to do. I have found my focus again and I am making sure that it stays in a healthy space.
I hope you're enjoying my new music, my new art, my rebooted youtube and have had a good nose at whats in my store ( all links above ).
See you soon!
